iCAD Software Simplifies Machine Frame Design
Minitec's iCAD Assembler software allows machine builders and designers to conceptualise, plan and cost their machine designs using Minitec's Profile System and Linear Systems. Users can choose the standalone program mode, requiring no CAD platform or specialist CAD knowledge, or work in combination with their preferred CAD software system. The free-of-charge software allows straightforward menu selection with drag-and-drop manipulation of individual profiles, connectors and ancillary components, with the ability to fully assemble these elements on screen to realise designs for simple machine frames through to complex automated assemblies.
With 'intelligent' selection of suitable connector elements, iCAD Assembler generates rotatable views for each component, along with detailed dimensioning and technical specifications, including weights. The software generates parts lists and BOMs for pricing and provides the designer with more than 50 data-output format options in 2D and 3D, including AutoCAD, Solidworks, Proengineer, IGES and STEP4. Minitec's Profile System is a comprehensive machine-building system that includes modular aluminium and stainless-steel profiles that are assembled using the Powerlock fastening system - a fast and effective frame connector requiring no special tools or machining, other than cutting profiles to the required length and fixing them in place with the twist of an Allen key.
A full range of ancillary components available include wheels, door components, conveyor parts, panelling, sensors, motors and controls. Linearsystem includes ball-bushings, slide units and torque bearings, plus precision-ground shafts and shaft supports that can be specified for machine automation. Together these ranges are designed to provide the building blocks for production and test machines, materials-handling systems, work stations, machinery guards and automated manufacturing systems.
