Enhanced Rack For Portable Satellite Equipment

CP Cases has increased the resilience and portability of its lightweight, 19in (48cm) Satrack rack solution for portable satellite equipment. Enhancements include new elastomeric mounts for increased resistance to shock and vibration damage in transit and a new internal chassis made from high-performance aluminium alloy, increasing resilience in the field. The same internal chassis is used across the entire range of CP Cases' racks, reducing the waiting time between order and fulfilment.

Suitable for use by flyaway news gathering teams that need electronic equipment to arrive at their destinations when they do, the Satrack was originally developed in consultation with Vislink in 2008 to meet project requirements for a protective rack solution to house portable satellite equipment while conforming to IATA constraints for commercial-airline checked-in baggage. The Satrack, with the frequently used 4U x 480mm internal chassis, weighs 8kg, allowing an additional 24kg of equipment to be fitted.

The IATA weight restriction is 32kg. As carry-friendly, checked-in baggage, the Satrack saves both time and additional baggage charges. The Satrack is designed to achieve a maximum strength-versus-weight ratio; a super-lightweight aluminium chassis floats on elastomeric mounts within a honeycomb polypropylene shell. The body shell is cushioned by a foam jacket for additional insulation, which also makes the Satrack more carry friendly.

The outer cover in heavyweight texturised nylon is weatherproof and abrasion resistant. A long side handle facilitates level carrying for unevenly balanced loads. The Satrack is currently deployed by electronic news gathering organisations and the military, including the BBC, Sky, ABC, CBC News, Vislink and Qinetiq. It is available in full 19in rack and half-rack sizes, with a range of options to suit individual requirements.
