Master Bond Develops Two-Part Polymer System

Master Bond has developed the EP31 two-part polymer system, which provides adhesion to a variety of substrates, including many metals, plastics, rubbers, ceramics and glass. The system offers good adhesion with a lap shear strength exceeding 4,600psi, a peel strength surpassing 40pli, a tensile modulus of more than 410,000psi and a flexural strength of more than 13,000psi. Resistant to many chemicals, including water, oil and fuels, the EP31 is also an excellent electrical insulator, according to the company.

The EP31 has a versatile cure schedule and can cure at room temperature or more quickly at elevated temperatures. Other characteristics include a Shore D hardness of greater than 75 and low shrinkage upon cure. It is processed with a 3:1 mix ratio by weight and has a service temperature range of -60F to +250F. Available in both black and optically clear, the EP31 is sold in half-pint, pint, quart, one-gallon and five-gallon containers. It is also available as a non-drip version called EP31ND.
