Fortress Metal Detector Used In Pie Production

Frozen-food wholesaler Freshpack has incorporated a Fortress twin-headed combination metal-detection system with ferrous-in-foil inspection facility and checkweigher into its factory production line. The twin-headed system was required because the new product line processed pies that were sealed in more than one type of packaging, with some in aluminium foil trays and others in plastic containers.

The Phantom In-Foil Metal Detector is able to differentiate between metal contaminants and ferrous metals, such as the iron and mild steel contained in foil packaging. On Freshpack's pie production line, it is installed just after the packaging process and operates at 32 packs per minute.

When selecting the proper fuse for short circuit protection in motor starting applications, it is important to not only ensure that the fuse will not nuisance open during motor start up times, but also that the fuse will coordinate as required with overload relays.
