Rotating Beacon Suitable for Mobile Applications
Patlite's new Type RLR rotating beacon, available in the UK from Techdrives, is designed for outdoor applications and for use in severe environments. Suitable for mobile applications and external signs, the Type RLR measures 162mm in diameter and can be supplied with red, yellow, blue or green lenses. The design includes LED bulbs and other features to achieve a long, maintenance-free life. The Type RLR beacons are enclosed to IP66 and rated for ambient temperatures of -30C to +70C, making them suitable for practically all outdoor uses.
The LED bulbs are said to achieve a lifetime at least 20 times longer than incandescent bulbs. Rotation of the lens is achieved by a maintenance-free brushless motor rated for 10,000 hours of operation. To further ensure trouble-free operation, the Type RLR is rated to withstand up to 11G shock, such as might be encountered in off-road vehicles. Variants are available for 12VDC, 24VDC and 48VDC, as well as 90-250VAC.
Smaller rotating beacons start at 82mm. Beacons can include audible alarms at up to 90dB or voice messages at up to 94dB. Other options include motors with up to 10 years' life, explosion-proof beacons for Zone 1 and Zone 2 use and battery-powered portable models.
