Plasma Cutting Machine for Decorative Metalwork
Weldability-Sif has introduced the Plasma 50, a single-phase, 230V, 13A portable plasma cutting package for use in automotive body repair and small and medium-sized fabrication shops. The Plasma 50 features insulated gate bipolar transistor (IGBT) technology and a built-in air compressor, giving it the ability to cut material up to 10mm thick. The machine has a current range from 7-40A and is rated 35A at 30 per cent duty cycle.
It has been designed as an alternative to oxy/fuel cutting and handheld disc-cutting methods in automotive body repair and small/medium-sized fabrication shops as well as in profiling and decorative metalwork, where precise control of the keyhole cut and low material distortion is required. Plasma cutting offers the user high cutting speeds, reduced clean-up requirements and low distortion on thinner-gauge materials than oxy-fuel equipment when cutting mild, galvanised and stainless steel, aluminium, copper and brass, as well as most conductive metal sheet, pipe and bar.
The Plasma 50 comes supplied with a contact-cut plasma torch with the ability for fast pilot arc striking and rapid distortion-proof cutting capability. Weldability-Sif said the Plasma 50 is easy and safe to use and features its own in-built compressed air supply for maximum portability and cost effectiveness. It also offers protection against over- and under-voltage, over-current as well as thermal overload. Optional extras include a replacement 4m plasma torch, nozzles, electrodes, safety cup shrouds and insulating diffusers.
