12.5A Driver Supports Fibre-Coupled Lasers

The 12.5A PLD12.5K-CH driver supports fibre-coupled lasers used in applications in medical, dental, micro-machining, material processing, semiconductor inspection and imaging. The PLD-CH Chassis Mount Series offers single-supply low-voltage operation from 5V DC, which minimises heat dissipation.

For applications that require a higher forward voltage, a separate laser-diode power-supply input allows for flexible compliance voltages up to 28V DC. Safety is paramount on all Wavelength Electronics controllers. The PLD-CH Series safety features include: slow-start circuit; mechanical shorting relay; and active current limit.

When selecting the proper fuse for short circuit protection in motor starting applications, it is important to not only ensure that the fuse will not nuisance open during motor start up times, but also that the fuse will coordinate as required with overload relays. When sizing fuses between 125% and 150% of the motor nameplate current, several advantages, including ease of coordination with an overload device, a smaller disconnect, and increased short circuit protection from a lower fuse rating, can be achieved.
