EGT Sensor Withstands Extreme Conditions
The Sensor Connection has introduced the EGT diesel exhaust gas temperature sensor, which features an enclosed foul-proof probe tip that permits operation in biofuel and diesel-engine applications. Manufactured in the US from high-temperature Inconel and 316SS, this Type K thermocouple can withstand extreme conditions, making it suitable for use in research and development and testing as well as in various applications within the agricultural, marine and automotive/racing industries (including truck engine management systems and LNP injection systems).
These high-temperature sensors are particularly suitable for professional racing teams, original equipment manufacturers and research and development test labs for their demanding applications. The EGT sensor is capable of surviving extreme vibration and heat up to 1,200C. The foul-proof sensing tip is recommended for EGT temperature measurements of sulphuric fuels such as diesel and biofuels. Measuring 0.187in (4.75mm) in diameter, the EGT probe will fit most diesel-engine exhaust systems from 0.750in (19mm) to 4.0in (100mm) in diameter with nominal installation modifications.
The sensor, available in either a straight or 90deg bend to the probe, accommodates tight-spaced mounting locations. An adjustable (316 stainless steel) 1/8in NPT compression fitting adapter is included. The EGT probe cable, over braided in stainless steel for heavy-duty abrasion resistance, extends 6ft (2m) in length. Signal wires are Teflon insulated to ensure reliable and consistent high-temperature measurement in extreme operating conditions.
