Safety Eyewear Suited for Construction Work

Uvex has unveiled a new type of safety eyewear that is suited for use in industries such as construction, utilities and agriculture. The Super Fit Variomatic, an addition to Uvex's Super Fit range of safety eyewear, eliminates the need to swap or remove safety spectacles when moving between changing light conditions. The lightweight ultra-thin lens of the Super Fit Variomatic darkens within seconds of exposure to UV light, while quickly reverting to its former state as UV light is reduced.

This allows the wearer to move safely from indoors to outdoors and back again wearing the same pair of specs. Those working in oil and gas, and forklift truck drivers and architects will also find the specs useful, since their eyes will be continuously protected from harm. The Uvex Super Fit specs offer a high level of comfort, clear vision, a double-sided scratch-resistant lens coating, a secure fit and a sporty, lightweight design. The hard-wearing specs are available in a choice of frame colours and lens options that allow differing levels of light transmission, depending on whether the majority of work takes place indoors or outdoors.

When selecting the proper fuse for short circuit protection in motor starting applications, it is important to not only ensure that the fuse will not nuisance open during motor start up times, but also that the fuse will coordinate as required with overload relays. When sizing fuses between 125% and 150% of the motor nameplate current, several advantages, including ease of coordination with an overload device, a smaller disconnect, and increased short circuit protection from a lower fuse rating, can be achieved.
