ODVA Sets Date for 2011 Industry Conference

ODVA has announced that it will hold its 2011 Industry Conference and 14th Annual Meeting of Members in March 2011 at the Wigwam Resort and Hotel in Litchfield Park, Arizona, US. Open to both ODVA members and non-members, the event will span multiple days, featuring an industry conference with presentation of technical papers, workshops and networking social events.

The event will conclude with the annual meeting of members, which will include keynote speakers on topics of interest pertaining to industrial automation and an update from ODVA on the organisation itself. The ODVA Conference and Annual Meeting of Members is aimed at automation suppliers, OEMs and users. It provides information on the latest business and technical trends in ODVA technologies.

ODVA's 14th Annual Meeting of Members will be held from 8.00am to 12.00pm on Thursday 3 March 2011. The conference and related activities will held on adjacent days from 28 February to 3 March.

FUSE SIZING CONSIDERATIONS FOR HIGHER EFFICIENCY MOTORS

When selecting the proper fuse for short circuit protection in motor starting applications, it is important to not only ensure that the fuse will not nuisance open during motor start up times, but also that the fuse will coordinate as required with overload relays. When sizing fuses between 125% and 150% of the motor nameplate current, several advantages, including ease of coordination with an overload device, a smaller disconnect, and increased short circuit protection from a lower fuse rating, can be achieved.
