Honeywell To Provide Satellite Communications To Embraer KC-390 Military Transport Aircraft

Honeywell Aerospace has signed a contract with Embraer to provide its eNfusion AMT-3800 Inmarsat High-Gain Antenna system on Embraer’s upcoming KC-390 military transport aircraft for multiple customers including the Brazilian Air Force. The contract represents expansion of the 15-year working relationship between Honeywell and Embraer and it follows on the heels of Honeywell’s previous announcement to provide global in-flight connectivity services through an exclusive agreement with Inmarsat.

The antenna will provide the KC-390 with voice and data communications capabilities using the Inmarsat network to deliver advanced data link features for Communication Navigation Surveillance (CNS) and Air Traffic Management (ATM). By using the network, data can be sent and received “real time,” enabling a continuous stream of communications to help flight crews maximize operations both on the ground and in the air.

Honeywell has a long history of developing and delivering dual-use, civilian and military technologies — including satellite communications (SATCOM) and supporting avionics — to meet commercial, government and military customer requirements worldwide. As military operators move toward greater connectivity, SATCOM capabilities have become increasingly important to ensure effective and efficient field performance.
