Vibration Monitors Works In Hazardous Settings
Metrix has introduced the Pro440 single-channel vibration switch, which has been approved for use in hazardous areas and is suitable for cooling-tower, fan and pumping applications. The switch protects and, if necessary, shuts down machinery if harmful levels of acceleration or velocity are detected. The fully programmable Pro440 is said to be simple to modify in the field. The device is packaged in a cast-aluminium Nema housing.
Its relay contact is activated when the vibration set point is exceeded, as sensed by the Pro440's internal or external piezoelectric accelerometers. The Pro440 has an internal display and a 4-20mA output ready to connect to a PLC or SCADA system. Alarm time delays and a remote reset functionally are standard. The Pro440 can be connected to any 4-20mA transmitter to provide display, alarm and loop repeating.
