Robots Suit Light And Medium-Duty Applications

The R Series of industrial robots from Kawasaki Robotics is ideal for applications including arc-welding, dispensing, sealing, material handling, assembly, inspection, packaging and more. The lightweight arm of the R Series robot combined with the high-throughput, fast-response motors provide good acceleration and high-speed operation.

In addition to extending the robot's maximum reach and payload, the range of each axis has been increased. With more range of motion the working area of the robot is expanded, resulting in a greater flexibility throughout the work envelope. Each joint has a double seal construction and the electrical connectors are waterproof, therefore achieving IP67 for the wrist and IP65 for the remaining axes. If required, IP67 can be provided as an option for these remaining axes.

The RS20N is the first robot of the new series offering payloads from 3080kg and is controlled with the latest version of the E controller, which uses CPU technologies including a user-friendly operation system and faster file handling together with a USB port for external communications. The new E controller uses modular components and fewer cables, and is more compact and easy to maintain. With an additional amplifier installed, the system can accept up to two external axes and adding an expansion board enables the system to control up to 16 external axes.
