Front-Panel Option For Controlling CMC Test Sets

Omicron Electronics, a specialist in power system protection testing, has introduced a front-panel device with a touch-screen user interface for controlling its CMC test sets. As an alternative to the PC-based Test Universe, there is now the option of front-panel control to provide instant availability and simple operation, according to the company. The new CMControl device is intended for the quick manual verification of test objects, utilising a touch-screen user interface that simplifies the setup of tests.

Its integrated control wheel facilitates the adjustment of output quantities during the test. Omicron claims that several specialised test tools with integrated fault models further assist the test engineer in getting quick results. In addition to providing front-panel operation, the CMControl can be detached from the CMC test set and used as a flexible handheld control device. Magnetic elements at the rear facilitate attachment to standard protection cubicles and the built-in stand ensures that it can be positioned on flat surfaces.

The CMControl features a 7in (18cm) display that is readable even in direct sunlight and an integral miniature USB flash drive for storing test results. It can be powered via the CMC test set using Power over Ethernet (PoE).
