USB Connector For Space-Constrained Applications
FCI has introduced a durable mini-USB connector suitable for use in mobile phones, MP3 players, personal digital assistants and digital cameras. The Micro USB connector complies with the physical, electrical and environmental requirements of the USB 2.0 standard. The connector, which is part of the company's USB range, is said to be ideal for space-constrained applications.
Approximately 60 per cent smaller than the average mini-USB connector, the Micro USB requires little space and provides engineers with a solution for sleek, small designs, according to FCI. The Micro USB connector is RoHS compatible, ensures direct data transmission among mobile devices without hosts and complies with USB 1.1 and 2.0 standards. The device features a passive latch mechanism, preventing unintentional cable release, and has a lifespan of 10,000 cycles.
The connector's receptacles and plugs are available in a variety of mounting and termination configurations, enabling it to be used in a range of devices. The company offers Micro USB B- and A/B-type receptacles (standard, mid-mount and reverse) as well as a B-type plug.
