Honeywell Switches Operate In Hostile Environments

Inertial Aerosystems is offering thermal switches that can operate in hostile environments and are ideal for water, hydraulic, refrigeration, battery, air temperature and box temperature applications. The 100 series low-cost switches, manufactured by US-based Honeywell, are designed for non-hermetic uses in terrestrial applications where Mil-spec environmental conditions are met. The devices are capable of handling 7A resistive loads at 120/240VAC RMS and 7A at 28VDC, with an endurance of 10,000 cycles minimum at rated DC or AC loads.

Available configurations include single pole single throw and single pole double throw. The active temperature range is -43C to +121C, with a differential range of between -15C and +5C and a set-point tolerance of +/-2.8C. The bimetallic disc harnesses a micro switch that is qualified to MIL-STD-8805, UL, CSA and CE. The switches are epoxy sealed and vibration resistant and provide a fast response to thermal changes. Packages compatible with the Honeywell 500 series aerospace switch are available. The new devices are available in various exterior materials.
