Semi-Rugged PDA Ideal For Field Services

Varlink has launched the BM-170 from Pidion, a semi-rugged enterprise-class PDA designed for applications such as fleet management, parcel delivery, field services and healthcare. The BM-170 from Pidion is equipped with advanced communications and imaging technologies. It incorporates an 806MHz processor and Windows Mobile 6.5 operating system that delivers maximum computing power and high performance. It features an integrated 3.0 megapixel autofocus camera with LED flash, 3.5in touch screen and provides a large memory capacity with 128MB RAM and 265MB ROM.

The device is also designed to withstand multiple 1.5m drops to steel surface and supports an optional 3,200mAh extended battery, allowing workers continuous operation during their entire shift. HSDPA (3.5G) and GSM provides workers with high-performance voice and data communication while Wi-fi enables reliable wireless data transmission. The device also features integrated A-GPS, which enables tracking of mobile workers' current location and streamlining route plan.

When selecting the proper fuse for short circuit protection in motor starting applications, it is important to not only ensure that the fuse will not nuisance open during motor start up times, but also that the fuse will coordinate as required with overload relays. When sizing fuses between 125% and 150% of the motor nameplate current, several advantages, including ease of coordination with an overload device, a smaller disconnect, and increased short circuit protection from a lower fuse rating, can be achieved.
