Touch Computer Meets Tough Industrial Requirements

American Industrial Systems (AIS) has introduced a 5.7in (14.5cm) industrial Windows CE touch computer for use in automation, building management and operator HMI applications. The computer provides Microsoft CE-based industry operator panel PC and graphic OIT to meet tough industrial requirements concerning performance, ultra-low power consumption, shock, vibration and temperature resistance in a single, low-cost, economical, small-form-factor system, according to the company.

The AIS 5.7in operator interface panel is designed with an IP64-protected front panel with a touch screen for sealing out dust and water in environmentally challenging conditions. The open-platform human-machine interface (HMI) utilises a 520MHz RISC-based processor providing high performance and low power consumption. Solid-state 1Gb storage and embedded Windows CE 5.0 are preloaded on the system.

Staying connected is said to be simple with built-in WiFi 802.11b/g connectivity, eliminating the need to run additional cables. The high-brightness LCD display with a touch-screen interface enables user interaction for graphical display automation, monitoring and control. These embedded HMI systems are encased in waterproof and dustproof enclosures to ensure complete all-weather protection and are capable of operating under extreme temperatures from -20C to +60C. Vesa-standard mounting holes are available on every unit to facilitate deployment into any installation. VAR pricing starts at USD399 (GBP270).
