Hansen Utilises Bruel And Kjaer's Pulse Platform

Hansen uses Bruel and Kjaer's Pulse data acquisition and analysis system for applications such as field measurements, research and development, quality control, production testing and validation. Hansen designs gears and carries out heat treatment, gear cutting and grinding and housing machining in house.

Bruel and Kjaer has supplied Hansen with around 30 Pulse platforms, which are used at facilities worldwide for core research and development, production testing and visiting installations for onsite diagnostics and troubleshooting. Hansen produces gearboxes for wind turbines as well as for industrial use.

When selecting the proper fuse for short circuit protection in motor starting applications, it is important to not only ensure that the fuse will not nuisance open during motor start up times, but also that the fuse will coordinate as required with overload relays. When sizing fuses between 125% and 150% of the motor nameplate current, several advantages, including ease of coordination with an overload device, a smaller disconnect, and increased short circuit protection from a lower fuse rating, can be achieved.
