Thermally Conductive Compound Produces Tough Bonds

Master Bond's Supreme 10AOHT-LO polymer adhesive, a single-component, no-mix, thermally conductive compound, is ideal for use in the aerospace, optical, medical and oil/chemical processing industries. The compound is claimed to feature superior electrical insulation and toughness.It meets NASA's low-out-gassing specifications and offers excellent durability and dimensional stability, according to the company. It is formulated to cure at elevated temperatures between 250F and 300F for one hour and produces bonds for service over the temperature range of 4K to 400F.

These tough bonds are resistant to severe thermal cycling and a variety of chemicals, including water, oil and various fuels. The hardened adhesive has a thermal conductivity of 9-10 BTU/in/ft2/hour/F. Its Shore D hardness exceeds 75 and its compressive strength is greater than 15,000lb/in2. It is available for purchase in half-pint, pint, quart, gallon and five-gallon containers. Master Bond's Supreme 10AOHT-LO is a low-out-gassing, cryogenically serviceable, one-part-epoxy system, formulated to stand up to impact, thermal shock, vibration and stress-fatigue cracking.

When selecting the proper fuse for short circuit protection in motor starting applications, it is important to not only ensure that the fuse will not nuisance open during motor start up times, but also that the fuse will coordinate as required with overload relays. When sizing fuses between 125% and 150% of the motor nameplate current, several advantages, including ease of coordination with an overload device, a smaller disconnect, and increased short circuit protection from a lower fuse rating, can be achieved.
