Sierra Introduces Smart-Trak 50 Flow Controller

Sierra Instruments has announced the release of its Smart-Trak 50 Series flow controller for machine builders, systems integrators and end users. Sharing the same advanced core sensor technology as the Sierra Smart-Trak 100, the Smart-Trak 50 is now available at almost half the price with off-the-shelf delivery at no extra charge.

'The Smart-Trak 50 is a modular design, so users can add communications, displays or future functionality as required,' said Matthew J Olin, president of Sierra Instruments. This performance/price ratio was made possible by reducing the number of mass flow controller parts by almost 50 per cent, automating calibration around slightly reduced accuracy and leveraging research and development costs against already developed sensor, valve and LFE technology. Sierra has also streamlined delivery by stocking the seven most common flow ranges. OEMs that purchase in volume can achieve greater price reductions.

The Smart-Trak 50 is claimed to deliver an accuracy of +/-1.5 per cent FS, repeatability of +/- 0.25 per cent FS, 300ms response time and 0-50slpm (nlpm) range in a compact footprint. It comes with 316L SS wetted materials, field zero and span adjust, plus analogue outputs, RS-232 and RS-485, with optional large local display. Two DB9 connectors are located on either side of the enclosure for convenient wiring and the unit can be calibrated onsite.
