Nippon Releases Programmable Pulse Generator

Nippon Pulse Motor has released a functional programmable pulse generator, which provides high-speed 6.5Mpps pulses to drive stepper motors and servomotors using various commands. The PCL6045BL is a CMOS LSI that adopts a 3.3V single power supply and a Jedec standard package. The LSI features circular interpolation between two desired axes and linear interpolation among two to four desired axes, in addition to linear acceleration/deceleration and S-curve acceleration/deceleration.

It also features preregisters that enable continuous interpolation during operation in progress; built-in four up/down counters per axis and five comparators per axis; and an overriding operating pulse rate and target position during operation in progress. The PCL6045BL incorporates a design that is said to reduce the burden on CPU units to control motors. Nippon Pulse Motor offers various controllers, drivers and motors to cover almost any stepper-motor application.
