Ecopac Offers Power Supply For Office Equipment

The Mean Well GS160 160W power supply is ideal for applications such as consumer electronics, POS systems, LCD displays and office equipment. It complies with worldwide standards for external power supplies, including ErP second-step, Energy Star, EISA 2007 and MEPS. The series enhances the existing range of GS external power supplies with very low 'no load power consumption' (less than 0.5W).

It also offers energy savings at standby and active modes, providing up to 94 per cent of high efficiency. Using the standard IEC320-C14 inlet as the input connector, the Mean Well GS160 series has 90-264V AC universal input with PFC function. Supplied with an earth ground pin and enclosed by UL 94V-0 rated plastic case, these Class I units can effectively prevent users from electrical shocks.

The GS160 series can be supplied with five different output voltages from 12 to 48V. By using LLC topology the GS160 series, with only free air convection, can operate from -30 to 50deg under full-load condition (at 230V AC) and up to 70deg ambient temperature with the appropriate de-rating. The Mean Well GS160 has global safety and EMC certificates TUV, UL, CUL, BSMI, CCC, CB, FCC and CE.

When selecting the proper fuse for short circuit protection in motor starting applications, it is important to not only ensure that the fuse will not nuisance open during motor start up times, but also that the fuse will coordinate as required with overload relays. When sizing fuses between 125% and 150% of the motor nameplate current, several advantages, including ease of coordination with an overload device, a smaller disconnect, and increased short circuit protection from a lower fuse rating, can be achieved.
