Amplicon Launches 'Mini-Node' Industrial Computers
Amplicon has launched the IPC-914 range of 'mini-node' industrial computer systems, suitable for industrial automation, kiosks, digital signage, building controls and DVR applications. The range comprises Intel Core 2 Duo processing power, an ultra-compact size and expansion for up to four plug-in cards (PCI or PCIe). Low-voltage DC and AC mains-powered models increase its flexibility even further, according to the company. With all electronics protected in a cold-rolled steel housing measuring 182 x 248 x 185mm in size, the IPC-914 offers four PCI slots or two PCI plus one PCIex16 and PCIex1.
The system also supports one 2.5in (6.4cm) HDD (mechanical or solid state) for high-capacity storage. The system is built around the Intel 945GME Express chipset and ICH7M-DH Southbridge, supporting Core 2 Duo, Core Duo and Celeron M processors up to 2.33GHz. The Intel 945GME Express chipset featuring the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950 offers enhanced graphics and increased input/output (I/O) bandwidth. Two SODIMM sockets support up to 4Gb of DDR2 system memory. The compact, rugged, fanless industrial PC offers operating temperatures of up to 45C.
Dual Gigabit Ethernet ports, two USB 2.0 ports, two COM ports and a VGA port are provided as standard. In addition, four USB2.0 ports, two COM ports and one DVI-D port can be added, each at the expense of an available expansion slot at the rear of the enclosure. The system can be wall mounted and is equipped with an internal 10-30VDC 150W power supply and can be used in conjunction with a 90-264VAC external mains adaptor. The IPC-914 is applicable in a range of operating environments and supports various operating systems, including Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows 7 and Windows XP Embedded (XPE).
The system can be customised to meet specific project requirements and Amplicon can help with embedded software development to produce a bespoke product for OEM customers. The IPC-914 can be used in conjunction with the company's networking products to distribute system data across a local-area network, a wide-area network or the internet. Amplicon has also announced that the IPC-912 two-slot variant and the IPC-916 six-slot variant will be available soon.
