Weather Resistant LED Panel Mount Assemblies from Bivar

Bivar, a leading specialty provider of LED indication products and solutions, today announced a family of Weather Resistant LED Panel Mount Assemblies, which extends Bivar’s existing panel mount assembly product line, and features an IP rating and high intensity LED that is easily visible in bright sunlight.

Designed for use in harsh conditions such as extreme weather and moisture, the new family of products is ideally suited for applications that require outdoor LED indication – including hazardous areas and high-vibration environments such as industrial automation systems, power supplies, instrumentation and control panels. Because the assemblies are extraordinarily bright, they are also well-suited for use in sunlit areas.

“In outdoor environments, indication products must be able to reliably function despite the elements,” said Michael Finn, Bivar vice president of sales and marketing. “Bivar’s new panel mount assemblies can operate in rain and other harsh conditions, and they are extremely bright and therefore clearly visible at all times. The design community has been asking for an LED indication solution with an IP rating, and we are pleased to offer such a product to meet their needs.”

Defined by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), an IP rating is used to specify the environmental protection of enclosures around electronic equipment. It classifies the degree of protection against the intrusion of solid objects, dust, accidental contact and water. An IP rating consists of two numbers: the first referring to protection against solid objects, the second against liquids. Bivar’s Weather Resistant LED Panel Mount Assemblies feature a 67/68 IP rating, and are totally protected against dust and immersion up to 1m.

When selecting the proper fuse for short circuit protection in motor starting applications, it is important to not only ensure that the fuse will not nuisance open during motor start up times, but also that the fuse will coordinate as required with overload relays.
