Tektronix Announces Automated Solution for MIPI® Alliance M-PHYSM Transmitter and Receiver Testing

Tektronix, Inc., the world's leading manufacturer of oscilloscopes, today announced a complete automated solution for MIPI Alliance M-PHY testing, providing the industry's widest and most complete coverage of this emerging standard. Further adding to its industry lead in support of MIPI standards, Tektronix also released new protocol decode and analysis solutions for M-PHY UniPro and LLI protocols that can be performed on a Tektronix oscilloscope.

"Meeting the needs of the MIPI and M-PHY design community has been a top priority for Tektronix, and we are continuing to push hard to deliver comprehensive test solutions to our customers in this space," said Roy Siegel, general manager, Oscilloscopes, Tektronix. "We were the first to market with MIPI solutions starting in September 2010, and now offer the industry's most complete, Tx, Rx and protocol test solution for the latest M-PHY test specification."

The new Opt. M-PHYTX for Tektronix DPO/DSA/MSO70000 series oscilloscopes automates approximately 700 tests in regression of all high speed (HS) and pulse width modulation (PWM) gears, amplitude and termination combinations, greatly improving test engineering setup time and consistency. The new capability includes support for regression testing across different modes along with flexible print or HTM reporting capabilities for workgroup sharing or vendor qualification testing.

With seamless switching from automation to analysis mode, Opt. M-PHYTX allows designers to perform step-by-step debugging on failures using the Tektronix DPO-JET Jitter and Timing Analysis toolset that enables engineers to identify problems quickly across different test modes and combinations. Automated transmitter tests and protocol decode analysis can be completed using just one instrument, a Tektronix high-performance oscilloscope. The automated receiver test setup, Opt. M-PHYRX utilizes a highly optimized setup that significantly reduces equipment costs compared to alternatives that require at least three or more instruments with numerous connectors for conducting the stringent M-PHY Receiver tests as specified by the MIPI Alliance.

"The availability of comprehensive test solutions is a key component to the successful deployment of MIPI Alliance specifications," said Joel Huloux, Chairman of the Board of MIPI Alliance. "Tektronix is actively involved in specification development as well as our Test Investigation Group and we appreciate their efforts to advance MIPI specifications."

The highly integrated Tektronix M-PHY solution includes the addition of Power Spectral Density (PSD) measurements built into the oscilloscope that eliminates the need for an external spectral analyzer for transmitter testing. And integrated M-PHY error detection eliminates the need for an external bit-error-rate tester for receiver testing, further reducing equipment expense and setup time.

"Tektronix is an important Mixel MIPI Central ecosystem partner and we are proud that Tektronix chose to employ Mixel's M-PHY platform which supports all the M-PHY use-cases. Our collaboration with Tektronix has been of great value to our M-PHY customers," said Ashraf Takla, CEO, Mixel. "The Tektronix M-PHY product provides a degree of automation that saves considerable time and effort while improving repeatability. We are delighted that we will be demonstrating our M-PHY with Tektronix M-PHY product in the MIPI face-to-face meeting in Seoul Korea in the March."

Banner Engineering DF-G3 Discrete Fiber Amplifier Features World-Class Long Range Sensing Capability

Banner Engineering introduces its DF-G3 discrete long-range fiber amplifier with dual digital displays for use with plastic and glass fiber optic assemblies. Featuring increased sensing power, the DF-G3 can sense more than 3 meters (10 ft.) with opposed mode fibers or more than 1 meter (3 ft.) with diffuse mode fibers. The extra power provides increased detection reliability for dark targets at long range and enhanced detection sensitivity when using specialty fiber assemblies for large area and small part detection applications.

The DF-G3 is available with a single discrete output or two dual discrete outputs. The dual discrete outputs can be independently taught to trigger at different intensity values, which is ideal for correct part-in-place or error-proofing, bottle down, and edge guiding applications.

“We developed the DF-G3 fiber amplifier to meet our customers’ need to precisely detect smaller targets at longer ranges” said Dennis Smith, Senior Marketing Manager, Banner Engin…

TURCK is now offering the option to completely shield M8 picofast ® cordsets by connecting a braided shield directly to the coupling nut. This provides a cost-effective and reliable connection with 100 percent cable and connector shielding, which protects against electromagnetic and radio frequency interference.

The 3 and 4-pin cordsets are available with flexlife ® PVC or PUR jacketed cable. All connectors deliver IEC IP 67 protection.

The M8 picofast line, like most TURCK cordsets, provides male or female, straight and right angle connectors, standard and custom lengths, and pigtails or extensions. Fully encapsulated mating receptacles are also offered, completing the system.

IDEC Releases New Line of High Efficiency Power Supplies

IDEC Corporation announces the PS5R-V line of DIN-rail power supplies, offering their customers high-efficiency in a compact form factor at competitive prices. These power supplies suit a wide range of needs in the industrial marketplace, and carry all of the required certifications necessary for use in these demanding applications. This next generation of the industry standard PS5R power supply family has updated features and specifications to meet current and future needs.

The PS5R-V line of power supplies includes 10W, 15W, 30W, 60W and 120W versions, with additional versions coming soon. These power supplies have a very compact form factor with overall dimensions reduced by up to 25% from previous generations. The reduced form factors combine with DIN-rail mounting to free up valuable control panel space and reduce installation costs.

Operating temperature ranges up to -25 to +75 degrees C offer more versatility. These extended operating temperature ranges often allow these power…
