Flir Offers Thermal-Imaging App for Mobile Phones

Flir has announced the release of Flir Viewer, an app that uses a thermal-imaging camera's built-in Wi-Fi capability to connect to an Ipad, an Ipod Touch or an Iphone. Once connected, a Flir thermal-imaging camera can send images and other data to an Apple mobile device wirelessly. A free version of Flir Viewer is now available to download from the Apple Itunes Store.

Flir Viewer lets users download images from their camera, change colour palettes, analyse the images, add data, create reports, upload to 'the cloud' and email thermal images to other colleagues instantly. Sample images can be downloaded to the app so that any user can experience its functionality for free, even without a camera.

FUSE SIZING CONSIDERATIONS FOR HIGHER EFFICIENCY MOTORS

When selecting the proper fuse for short circuit protection in motor starting applications, it is important to not only ensure that the fuse will not nuisance open during motor start up times, but also that the fuse will coordinate as required with overload relays. When sizing fuses between 125% and 150% of the motor nameplate current, several advantages, including ease of coordination with an overload device, a smaller disconnect, and increased short circuit protection from a lower fuse rating, can be achieved.
