Polytec to Show Laser Vibrometers at UIA Symposium

Polytec is set to support the 40th annual symposium of the Ultrasonic Industry Association (UIA), which will cover all aspects of industrial and medical ultrasound. In particular, the UIA symposium, which will be held at Glasgow University on 23-25 May 2011, will focus on cutting, welding, cleaning, imaging, therapy, sensing and basic transducer development and testing. All of these areas are supported and complemented by Polytec's range of laser doppler vibrometer systems.

Laser vibrometers are remote, non-contact (and hence non-mass-loading or structure-modifying) sensing instruments that measure and characterise vibration. With extreme resolutions to a few picometers (2 x 10-12m), velocity capabilities to +/-150m/s and an excellent frequency response (near-zero to 1.2GHz), their capabilities have made them suitable for ultrasonic research, development and testing.

Polytec will exhibit some of its instruments at the symposium; these include single-point, dual-point differential and full-area scanning single-axis (1D) and multiple-axis (3D) measurement systems, with practical demonstrations showing ultrasonics-relevant applications.
