Aerotech Publishes Latest Linear Motors Guide
Aerotech has released an updated edition of its Linear Motors Application Guide, including a new section on applying linear motors as components in servo positioning systems. The new section complements chapters on the basics, types, benefits, selection and the commutation of linear motors with a detailed overview of the drive technologies, feedback devices, bearing types and cable management systems available.
While Aerotech has a range of linear-motor-driven positioning stages that typically include these components, the company also supplies linear motors as components to many original equipment manufacturers and machine builders who design and build their own positioning mechanics either entirely or as a part of an Aerotech-designed motion system. The application guide aims to provide an independent perspective for many of the important considerations system designers and integrators should be aware of.
The new eight-page section increases the application guide to 36 pages, with guidelines on specific types of servo drives, bearings, feedback and cabling systems and, in keeping with the other sections, includes hints and tips. Aerotech has also released a new version of its Linear Motor Product Brochure; the quick selection section of the guide includes an updated overview of the full range. The Linear Motors Application Guide and the Linear Motor Product Brochure are available free of charge, on request from any Aerotech sales office or distributor, or as a downloadable PDF from Aerotech's website.
