Mahr Instruments Measure Workpiece Dimensions

The updated Linear range of compact length-measuring instruments from Mahr is capable of fast and precise measurement of internal and external workpiece dimensions. The range comprises three new models: Linear 100 (application range 0-100mm), Linear 800 (0-800mm) and Linear 1200 (0-1,200mm), all of which are DN EN ISO 9000 compliant. These Linear units are also suitable for checking measuring devices such as micrometers, depth gauges and calipers.

In any of these applications it is possible to switch from internal to external measurement at any time without needing to recalibrate, with interchangeable anvils contributing to optimum part measuring. Suitable for shop floor use, the Linear range offers a sub-micron measurement capability for the precision machinist when measuring both lengths and diameters. This capability allows multi-faceted tasks such as the measurement of gear ODs to be completed quickly. A damped measuring spindle with adjustable measuring force ensures that measured results, both internal and external, are independent of the user and provide reliable and consistent data over the entire measuring range.

With this in mind, the design of all three Linear models features a solid cast body to avoid stresses and twisting error. Resolution is switchable (0.1um, 1um, 5um), with measured values displayed on a Unitron twin-channel digital display. This 10-digit display has a large number of measuring functions and an RS232 interface to transfer data to PCs. Optional Optoface software allows measured values to be transferred to Windows programs such as Microsoft Excel.
