Case Coders Suitable for Secondary Packaging
Linx Printing Technologies has launched two case coders that use Thermal Ink Jet (TIJ) technology and are suitable for secondary packaging such as outer cases, cartons or trays. The new models - the Linx TJ125 and Linx TJ225 - will be available exclusively to UK buyers via Linx's online shop. Offering an integrated printhead/ink cartridge system, the Linx TJ125 and TJ225 are designed for coding onto porous or uncoated surfaces such as cardboard.
Both models offer users of roller coders and low-resolution drop-on-demand case coders a high-quality, cost-efficient alternative. The printer system consists of a handheld controller for programming and set up, connected to a small printhead assembly into which the TIJ ink cartridge is inserted. Installation on the production line can be done by the customer as the only equipment required is a drill. The disposable, single-use cartridge with integral printhead is key to the coder's efficiency, as there is no risk of expensive printhead repairs or replacement.
Technology built into the cartridge ensures that the printer is always set up correctly for the ink type and monitors the amount of ink that has been used, displaying a warning when ink is running low. The base TJ125 model offers simple one- or two-line coding, which can be enhanced with incremental software packs to create a fully featured coder with options including expiry date offset calculations. The TJ225 offers all of these capabilities, plus four-line printing and barcode printing as standard.
A further software option for the TJ225 adds datamatrix (2D barcode) printing. Both models can print up to 12.5mm high at 300dpi, for clean and crisp codes to a maximum print speed of 61m/min.
