Type-Approved UPSs for Marine Applications

Eaton has received type-approval certification from DNV for its 9155 and 9355 Marine UPSs, which are suitable for use with navigation, communication, automation and bridge equipment. With power ratings of 8-15kVA, the 9155 and 9355 Marine UPSs are ready to use out of the box. Using type-approved UPSs simplifies and shortens marine UPS projects, saving the customer time and money, according to Eaton.

They do not require any additional project surveys or certificates, making them suitable for a range of marine applications. Both UPSs fulfil requirements for durability and resistance to environmental conditions, such as vibration, shock and extreme changes in inclination and temperature. They also comply with electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) requirements for maritime navigation and radio communications equipment, as well as systems standard (IEC60945), allowing them to be installed on the bridge without concerns about interference with the vessel's sensitive bridge equipment.

In addition to the 9155 and 9355 Marine UPSs, Eaton's other type-approved products include the 9130 Marine, the EX 1500, the EX 2200 and the EX 3000, all of which have DNV type approval as well as ABS type approval from the American Bureau of Shipping.
