Sensor Housing for Manufacturing Line Integration

To facilitate easy integration of the Colormax and Colormax View sensors into manufacturing lines, EMX have made them in industry-standard M30 housing without any internal or external switches. The Colormax setup functions are driven by software that can run on any windows program. The operator has control over parameters of the sensor such as target illumination and up to 0.5 per cent resolution on each of the RGB channels.

Colormax has up to 15 discrete, RGB analogue and RS232/USB outputs that can be integrated with PLC, HMI or a PC. Colormax sensors are used for opaque materials and Colormax View sensors are appropriate for translucent materials. The high-resolution, high-speed operation characteristics make them suitable for applications in the plastic, automotive, wood, paper, pharmaceutical, coating and film industries.

FUSE SIZING CONSIDERATIONS FOR HIGHER EFFICIENCY MOTORS

When selecting the proper fuse for short circuit protection in motor starting applications, it is important to not only ensure that the fuse will not nuisance open during motor start up times, but also that the fuse will coordinate as required with overload relays. When sizing fuses between 125% and 150% of the motor nameplate current, several advantages, including ease of coordination with an overload device, a smaller disconnect, and increased short circuit protection from a lower fuse rating, can be achieved. However, if sizing at this level prevents the motor from starting, it may then be necessary to increase the fuse ampere rating and it then becomes important to know the NEC sizing limitations.
