Palletising Robots for Packaging Machinery Makers

Micromech Systems and Parker support food processing equipment and packaging machinery manufacturers with automation products such as turnkey palletising robots. Palletising robots are of interest to end users in the pharmaceuticals and food processing industries, as well as machine manufacturers wishing to complement their product portfolio. Parker's linear actuator guidance systems are lubricant free and feature optimal hygienic properties thanks to their lifetime lubricated bearings.

Turnkey palletising systems can be provided to manufacturers of pharmaceutical packaging machines. These systems feature a multi-function gripper with rotary module, which bundles the secondary packages coming out of the case packer into a buffer area to form a stack following a defined pattern. At the same time, the multi-function gripper ensures the feeding of new folding cartons into the case packer.

For one particular factory, the building had a clearance height of 4.5m, therefore a special telescopic linear actuator was utilised. The result was a compact packaging line with a minimal footprint. This meant the manufacturer was able to deliver a packaging line to its customer within the shortest possible time to market. The customer has already ordered additional lines following the successful introduction of the palletiser, which enabled higher production, less maintenance and reduced costs.

When selecting the proper fuse for short circuit protection in motor starting applications, it is important to not only ensure that the fuse will not nuisance open during motor start up times, but also that the fuse will coordinate as required with overload relays. When sizing fuses between 125% and 150% of the motor nameplate current, several advantages, including ease of coordination with an overload device, a smaller disconnect, and increased short circuit protection from a lower fuse rating, can be achieved.
