LED Ex Pendant Light Fittings Save Energy
Cooper Crouse-Hinds has introduced the EV 35, an LED version for its EVI range of explosion-protected Ex pendant light fittings for incandescent and high-pressure discharge lamps. This LED option is certified for use in explosive gas atmospheres (Zone 1 and Zone 2) and explosive dust atmospheres (Zone 21 and Zone 22), in accordance with ATEX standards. It may be used as a direct replacement for comparable light sources, such as incandescent and mercury vapour lamps.
Due to its corrosion-resistant light alloy enclosure, with IP66 protection (IP67 is optional) and an impact-resistant, protective glass bowl, the EV 35 LED is also suitable for use in harsh and hazardous environments, including damp and dusty conditions, such as those found on offshore oil and gas platforms, petrochemicals and chemical plants. Other target industries include pharmaceuticals, food processing, grain, oil refineries, wood processing and wastewater treatment plants.
Equipped with a bright white 32W LED module, the new EV 35 LED Ex pendant light fitting is claimed to provide a range of benefits for end users. Benefits include energy savings; high light output and efficiency; optimum light distribution for low and medium suspension heights; suitability for use in low ambient temperatures; and cost savings, due to a longer lifetime of the illuminant and prolonged maintenance intervals.
The light fittings are also environmentally friendly, as they contain no mercury. The EV 35 LED Ex pendant light fitting can operate in ambient temperatures from - 40 up to +55C and is certified for temperature class T6. The EV 35 LED has a luminous flux of 2000 lumen, which is equivalent to a 150W incandescent or a 50W mercury vapour lamp. It can be ceiling, wall or pole-mounted and is shock- and vibration-resistant, with no filament or glass to break. It is also suitable for low-temperature applications (down to -40C) that require immediate, full illumination from start up.
