DIN-Rail Receiver Suits Industrial Applications

Honeywell has introduced the Limitless wireless DIN-rail receiver (WDRR) for industrial, construction, machine, material-handling and heavy-transportation applications. This could include agricultural equipment, cranes, lifts, conveyors, grain diverters and door positions. The WDRR is a DIN-rail or panel-mountable receiver designed to receive wireless signals from up to 14 different position-sensing switches and communicate the individual switch status to a programmable logic controller (PLC) or any controllers capable of receiving NPN/PNP inputs.

Limitless wireless switching can save up to 60 per cent compared with traditional wired switching by reducing installation time, conduit, wire, clips and other accessories. It also enables sensing capabilities where it is impossible or very difficult to run cabling. The Limitless wireless network is an easy-to-implement solution for those looking for a cost-effective and reliable switching solution.

It includes the WDRR and WPMM receivers, the WLS and WGLA limit switches, utilises the global, license-free RF wireless 802.15.4 WPAN protocol, provides up to a 305m (1,000ft) line-of-sight communication range and prolongs battery life with advanced power-management technology.

When selecting the proper fuse for short circuit protection in motor starting applications, it is important to not only ensure that the fuse will not nuisance open during motor start up times, but also that the fuse will coordinate as required with overload relays. When sizing fuses between 125% and 150% of the motor nameplate current, several advantages, including ease of coordination with an overload device, a smaller disconnect, and increased short circuit protection from a lower fuse rating, can be achieved.
