Cantilever Pump Can Handle Abrasive Solids

The Pump Company has introduced a vertical cantilevered pump from Salvatore Robuschi that is capable of handling solids - even abrasive types - without external flushing. A key feature of the cantilever pump is that there are no bearings or bushings submerged. The benefit of having no seals in contact with the product means temperatures can exceed 500C and the pump can operate dry without causing any damage.

The cantilever pump primes automatically when the liquid covers the impeller, so an additional benefit, according to the Pump Company, is that the pump can even run without level controls. The suction pipe allows users to empty tanks that are metres in depth. The cantilever pump has a strong construction and no mechanical wearing, meaning it has almost no maintenance costs.

The pump is available in many different construction options. Various impeller options are available, including vortex, channel or closed. The pump can also be mounted external to the tank. Construction materials available include cast iron and 316 stainless steel.

When selecting the proper fuse for short circuit protection in motor starting applications, it is important to not only ensure that the fuse will not nuisance open during motor start up times, but also that the fuse will coordinate as required with overload relays.
