TFC Announces., The World’s Smallest Precision Quartz Crystal from Laptech Precision Ltd.

On Behalf of Laptech Precision Inc. (Ontario, Canada) that has now made available the LT-4 quartz crystal representing the smallest and lightest precision quartz crystal in the world. The addition of SC cut quartz provides scope for OCXO designers to miniaturise their designs.

Dave Garvey, Technical Director at Laptech Precision Inc. says the LT-4 crystal combines the highest technical abilities of the design engineers and production team at Laptech and the inclusion of SC cut quartz in this miniature package is a major step forward.

Measuring only (5.48 x 4.40 x 2.38)mm the LT-4 represents the pinnacle of design and innovation for a miniature precision quartz crystal. Packaged in a leaded resistance weld enclosure and offering superior specifications to smd units the LT-4 is available from (15 ~ 175)MHz, adjustment tolerance from ±3ppm and temperature tolerance from ±3ppm. The units may be filled with dry nitrogen or vacuum brazed; gold plated electrodes give excellent long term ageing. Lead options include straight leads and pre-formed leads for smd requirements. These units may be manufactured with AT cut, SC cut and IT cut quartz.

Typical uses are miniature r.f. applications and, with a weight of only 0.17 grams, channel crystals for wildlife tracking were it is already a popular choice for fish tags and avian monitoring transceivers. Manufacturers of precision OCXO now have the further option to incorporate the LT-4 and reduce the size of their units.

When selecting the proper fuse for short circuit protection in motor starting applications, it is important to not only ensure that the fuse will not nuisance open during motor start up times, but also that the fuse will coordinate as required with overload relays.
