Tetra Pak Opens Product Development Centre in China

Ninth worldwide Product Development Centre to provide processing, packaging, production and market expertise to Tetra Pak customers in China

Tetra Pak, the world leader in food processing and packaging solutions, today opens a Product Development Centre (PDC) in Shanghai, China. The centre provides local dairy and beverage companies with the processing, packaging and powder handling equipment as well as expertise that will enable them to quickly and efficiently develop high quality products.

Part of Tetra Pak China’s Technology Development and Manufacturing Centre, the PDC allows customers to respond to the increasingly diverse needs of the beverage and dairy market in China. The combination of urbanization, a rapidly growing middle class and changes in beverage consumption have driven the rapid development of Tetra Pak customers’ product lines, categories and flavours. Creating new products can involve long development time lines and high costs; therefore, Tetra Pak is applying its industrial and market knowledge and expertise to help customers create new product solutions.

Equipped with advanced processing equipment for extraction, mixture, addition and filling, the PDC provides customers with the full range of processing procedures - from formula and testing of milk and beverage to packaging of finished products. It also offers a variety of services, including product and technology development, product formula and concept development, product processing technology and equipment optimization, product packaging innovation and product consumer surveys and market evaluation.

All of the equipment and facilities in the PDC have been tested and certified, and adhere to the most stringent manufacturing and quality standards. This means the PDC helps Tetra Pak’s customers transform product development into safe and reliable commercial production, resulting in better return on investment and greater agility. The PDC in China is Tetra Pak’s ninth worldwide, with similar centres in France, Sweden, the Netherlands, Brazil, the US, India, Singapore and Japan.
