Accurate Moisture Content for Victorinox

Moisture Analyzers provide fast and precise moisture measurements in the lab and on the factory floor. The plastic handle has a highly glossy surface which can only be achieved by strictly controlling the moisture content of the plastic. Even the smallest deviation in moisture content can cause surface irregularities and processing problems.

Victorinox regularly checks the moisture content in the plastic granules before molding. The first production step is to dry the plastic granules. Depending on the colorings and additives used, the moisture content should be between 0.02 and 0.07 %. The operator uses the HR83 Halogen Moisture Analyzer to test the moisture content of the granules and verify that the drying procedure has met specifications.

The HR83 is the perfect choice for the production environment as it is easy to handle and provides rapid and reliable results with the result displayed within 15 minutes to a 10 ppm resolution. Results are easily printed in order to be attached to the working report and, if the result falls within specifications, the plastic granules are immediately released for production.

Introducing moisture analysis as part of the molding process has resulted in a marked reduction in injection molding machine downtime.
