Lucifer Supplies Box Furnace To Flowserve

Lucifer Furnaces has supplied its 5000 Series heavy-duty box furnace to Flowserve, a manufacturer of pumping equipment, for its aftermarket service facility in Greer, South Carolina. The large furnace will be used in the repair of flow-control equipment.

In the past year, Flowserve has purchased six Lucifer single-chamber units for several plant locations throughout the country, bringing heat treating in house as part of its Continuous Improvement Project. The heavy-duty box furnace, with a 4 x 4 x 4in (10 x 10 x 10cm) work chamber, is lined with firebrick, mineral wool and ceramic fibre insulation for maximum heat retention.

Rated for 2,300F, heating elements are situated on the sides, back, door and below the hearth to provide uniform heat. An air-operated vertical-lift door is activated via a foot treadle with a centre stop. The furnace is being supplied with an over-temperature safety system, a programmable controller and a pen recorder.
