WirelessHART Adapter Enters Zone 1

The WirelessHART Adapter and WirelessHART Temperature Converter can now be installed in Zone 1. This enables new applications for WirelessHART products due to the new certificate. No cables are required to install WirelessHART. You only need:
  •     WirelessHART Gateway to manage the network (placed in zone 2)
  •     WirelessHART Temperature Converter (if you wish to measure local temperatures)
  •     WirelessHART Adapter to upgrade any 4…20 mA or HART-compatible field devices
All existing field devices are supported. The WirelessHART Adapter is fully compatible to existing field devices. The new certificate (ATEX / IECEx) allows you to install the intrinsically safe WirelessHART Adapter in Zone 1 like the WirelessHART Temperature Converter. WirelessHART allows you to wirelessly access connected field devices as well as autonomous measuring points.

Product use is independent from the control system. This means that WirelessHART fits to all control systems and is suitable for applications up to Zone 1. Anywhere where wired connections are too costly, offer insufficient reliability, or are simply impossible to install, WirelessHART opens up new opportunities.

Great examples are applications in corrosion monitoring and level control:

Corrosion is usually measured along lengthy pipelines located at remote plant locations that are difficult to monitor and wire. With WirelessHART, monitoring instruments can be placed at important measurement points along the pipeline in places that previously could not be reached.

Level monitoring devices are frequently located on top of storage and process tanks. WirelessHART makes it easier and more cost effective to monitor the levels in process and storage tanks by eliminating the need to manually record measurements.

WirelessHART is based upon the established HART protocol, an open and interoperative standard. This makes it easy to integrate it into any existing fieldbus infrastructure. Known tools and procedures for configuration, maintenance, and diagnosis can be used. This requires just a little additional employee training and you can gain access to the wireless world even in Zone 1, with all its advantages:
  • Supports all field devices and works with every control system
  • Accomodates difficult applications
  • ATEX/IECEx certification for Zone 1 (Adapter and Temperature Converter)
  • Use of well-known and established tools for maintenance and diagnostics
Enter Zone 1 wirelessly and establish your WirelessHART network!
