Adept Technology to Debut New Technology for Land, Air, and Sea at IEEE ICRA 2011

Adept Technology, Inc. (Nasdaq:ADEP), a leading provider of intelligent robots and autonomous mobile solutions and services, announced that their Adept MobileRobots group will be adding new aerial and autonomous underwater robots to round out their portfolio of land-based "wheeled" mobile platforms for the research and education community. These new products will be demonstrated in Booth 25 and 26 at the IEEE ICRA 2011 Conference from May 9 — 13, 2011 at the Shanghai International Convention Center in Shanghai, China.

To complement their existing line of terrestrial vehicles, Adept MobileRobots will now make available to their research customers the Maveric™ Unmanned Aerial Vehicle System and AQUA2™ Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV). The Maveric aerial robot is manufactured and supplied by Prioria, a supplier of military reconnaissance technology. The AQUA2 underwater robot is designed and manufactured by Independent Robotics, Inc., a supplier of underwater robot vehicles and related technologies.

The Maveric aerial robot is a single-man portable and operable, immediate launch capable, unmanned aerial vehicle system (UAS) designed as a high-performance, next-generation platform for small- and micro-UAS operations. Capitalizing on advanced composite materials and patented technology, the bendable-wings of the Maveric allow for the unparalleled ability to store a fully-assembled airframe in a six inch tube.

The AQUA2 underwater robot is an autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) that uses six independently controlled fins to provide a highly-maneuverable underwater sensor platform. This extremely lightweight and portable vehicle provides researchers an ideal platform for research projects ranging from reef monitoring to aquaculture inspection.

Adept is also pleased to announce that its traditional wheeled products will be demonstrated with new features and capabilities. The first Mobile Viper manipulator for use on mobile robots will be on display at the IEEE ICRA 2011 Conference. Mobile Viper is the first Adept product combining a traditional industrial manipulator with a platform developed by Adept MobileRobots. Additionally, several new research products now provide more powerful processing capabilities and enhanced sensing functionality.
