Adept MobileRobots Presents Extensive Suite of Robotic Platforms for Researchers and Educators

Adept Technology, Inc. (Nasdaq:ADEP), a leading provider of intelligent robots and autonomous mobile solutions and services, today announced that the Adept MobileRobots group will be exhibiting at the 2011 IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems. The company will have live demonstrations of its portfolio of research and education platforms in Booth 14 at the Hilton San Francisco Union Square in San Francisco, California from September 25-30, 2011.

This year, the IROS event is celebrating 50 years of robotics. The Pioneer robot, designed and supplied by MobileRobots for the past 15 years, continues to be the most popular platform in the research community. Adept MobileRobots will be celebrating its position as a leader in research at IROS by displaying its newly expanded portfolio designed to provide the same level of quality associated with terrestrial platforms for air and sea-based research. "Adept is proud to support and participate in IEEE events like IROS given the organization's significance in acting as a critical source of information and collaboration for researchers, academics, and students," said Rush LaSelle, director of global sales and marketing for Adept Technology, Inc. "Research and educational institutions remain an invaluable driver for the future of the robotics industry in the United States and we are pleased that Adept continues its legacy of playing an important role within this community."

The Adept booth will feature their new sea and air-based research products: the Aqua2 autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) and the Maveric RC aerial research platform. The Maveric RC is a single-man portable and operable, immediate launch capable, unmanned aerial vehicle. The high-performance, next-generation platform is manufactured by Prioria, a supplier of military reconnaissance technology. The Aqua2 underwater robot is an autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) that uses six independently controlled fins to provide a highly-maneuverable system manufactured by Independent Robotics, Inc.

Adept MobileRobots will also be demonstrating their new mobile manipulation platforms in their booth: the Seekur Jr. with Terabot-S Robot Arm and the Pioneer 3-DX with Cyton arm. Seekur Jr. with Terabot-S Robot Arm is a solution for researchers looking for a lightweight, heaving lifting arm integrated onto an all-weather platform. The Pioneer 3-DX with Cyton combines the most popular research platform with a reliable yet affordable 7-DOF manipulator.

Adept MobileRobots will also be exhibiting its Pioneer 3-AT, AmigoBot, and GuiaBot platforms in their booth. Adept MobileRobots provides a full range of software tools and accessory options to support their robot base platforms. The software packages are useful for many levels of development, ranging from basic communication with the robot fully autonomous to navigation and localization packages.

The IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems (IROS) is one of the premier international conferences in the area of intelligent robotics. IROS attracts top researchers from many countries to present their original results every year, as well as students, developers, and entrepreneurs looking to catch up on the latest developments in robotics. The venue this year is San Francisco, at the heart of technological innovation in Silicon Valley.
