LED Testing – 5 at a Time
After production, high-spec displays need to be tested for function and quality. An example is the control unit of a washing machine, which has several LEDs to show the progress of a wash programme. Often, only a few LEDs need to be checked in parallel, which is why the new colorCONTROL MFA-5 enables testing between 5 and 20 LEDs simultaneously. The test item's light is transmitted to the test system using a flexible 2mm plastic light conductor. A digital color sensor is then used to evaluate the light color and intensity with high dynamics. The color value is calculated within a few milliseconds and can be transmitted as an RGB, HSI or CIE value to a general test or computer system for further processing. A USB or RS232 interface and a baud rate of between 9,600 and 115,200 baud is used for transmission.
To facilitate measurements for a wide intensity range (illumination), the sensor’s sensitivity can be adjusted to two levels.
For testing more extensive systems, the MFA 100 can be used to test up to 100 LEDs.
