Peek Seals Proven in Range of Sealing Applications
Minnesota Rubber and Plastics (MRandP) offers seals made of Peek with custom joints that are designed to handle thermal expansion forces in hydraulic and pneumatic applications. When dynamic wear conditions occur in a system, seal leakage can occur causing the system to fail. Custom-moulded seals from manufactured from polyetheretherketone (Peek) high-performance plastic can provide a suitable solution.
Peek seals are proven in a range of sealing applications and provide long operating life with chemical resistance and good retention of mechanical properties up to 300C (570F). Peek seals from MRandP are suitable for use in systems utilising pumps, compressors and in ultra-high-vacuum applications. They are highly resistant to thermal degradation as well as attack by both organic and aqueous environments.
Seal joints can be added to a seal design to minimise leaks or to facilitate required fluid 'pass through' when various hydraulic mechanisms are actuated in a system. Custom joint configurations moulded into Peek O-ring seals, in addition to incorporating elastomer seals, give designers new options to ensure optimal fluid control, eliminating leakage while facilitating assembly of components.
