Harting to Show Electrical Interconnection Range

At Southern Electronics 2011, Harting will be featuring its range of electrical and electronics interconnection solutions, including several major new products. Harting's electronics assembly operation - Harting Integrated Solutions (HIS) - will also be demonstrating its backplane and sub-assembly capabilities. A major new product from Harting is Han-Yellock, an industrial connector series that retains the core functionality of the company's existing Han product range but differs significantly from in terms of size, shape and new features.

Key features of the Han-Yellock range include an internal, latched locking mechanism on the connector hood, a range of Han-Yellock modules to offer a large number of potential configurations, an adaptor frame for use with modules in Harting's Han-Modular series, insulators that can snap into the front or back walls of the housing and a protected earth (PE) contact in crimp or Quick Lock termination. Together, these features combine to offer a connector range with improved functionality in the form of increased versatility, multiplied potential for different configurations, simplified handling, a reduced incidence of errors and maximum safety.

Also new is Han-Eco, a complete range of high-quality all-plastic industrial connector housings that combine ruggedness, light weight and reduced costs with versatility, safety and reliability. Han-Eco is suitable for users who require a cost-effective, lightweight product and who do not require the full range of product features offered by Harting's Han B series of connector housings. The product also offers a higher contact-density/housing-size ratio than the Han B series. Like the Han B standard series, the Han-Eco series is available in sizes 6 B, 10 B, 16 B and 24 B.

Depending on size, versions of the bulkhead mounting and hood with straight or angled cable exit can be supplied. The cable exits are available with metric threading. Han-Eco housings are made of high-performance plastic that is highly resistant to environmental stress and - in combination with the design - provides good mechanical stability. When the connector is closed and locked, it provides IP 65 protection as defined in DIN EN 60 529. The material also meets the flammability requirements of UL 94 Class V 0.

On the electronics side, Harting's new Har-Flex connector series is a space-saving, rugged and flexible PCB connector for a range of board-to-board and board-to-cable applications. The Har-Flex range includes a number of straight connector models, as well as compatible insulation displacement connectors and angled models. The range is designed to offer PCB designers the greatest possible flexibility in the use of increasingly size-sensitive and cost-intensive PCB resources.
