Renold Hi-Tec Couplings Awarded ISO 14001 Standard

Renold Hi-Tec Couplings has announced that it has been awarded the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System (EMS) standard. The company was prompted to gain this accreditation via recognition of the need to become more environmentally conscious and of the desire of an increasing number of suppliers who want to deal with companies who can prove their commitment to the environment. First published in 1996, ISO14001 applies to those environmental aspects over which an organisation has control and where it can be expected to have an influence.

ISO 14001 centres around the process of how a product is produced, rather than on the product itself and aims to help organisations minimise how their operations negatively affect the environment and comply with legislation while at the same time continually improving. It took Renold Hi-Tec Couplings 12 months to achieve the accreditation, with one person assigned to ensuring the standard was achieved. The process started with a review of all business activities that affect the environment and all relevant legislation and culminated in the development of written procedures and objectives for continual improvement.
