Vanton Introduces Thermoplastic Centrifugal Pump

Vanton Pump has introduced a Sump-Gard thermoplastic centrifugal pump for use in effluent collection and evacuation and the transfer and circulation of chemicals or waste. The SGK-2700 pump, which handles flows to 4,500 litres per minute (1,200 gallons per minute) at heads to 60m (200ft), minimises maintenance costs and maximises the meantime between repairs.

All wetted components are moulded of solid polypropylene, PVDF or CPVC to eliminate chemical attack associated with the pumping of process fluids, plant effluents and industrial/municipal water and waste streams, while minimising abrasion. Since all wetted surfaces are chemically inert, the pumps are also rated for handling reagent-grade chemicals, high-purity water and other fluids that must remain contamination free. The alloy shaft, which is isolated from fluid contact by a thick-sectioned thermoplastic sleeve, transfers torque from a 93kW (125hp) motor and can employ a balanced 356mm (14in)-diameter impeller.

The pump's large-diameter cantilevered shaft eliminates the necessity for any immersed bearings and permits dependable operation for short or extended periods of dry-run operation, with no damage to the pump. SGK series pumps weigh less than pumps of equivalent capacity constructed of stainless steel, Hastelloy, Monel or other metal alloys, facilitating installation and maintenance, according to the company. Vanton also offers other vertical pump configurations, a line of horizontal centrifugal thermoplastic pumps (including seal-less magnetically driven pumps), seal-less peristaltic pumps and integrated non-metallic tank/pump systems.
