Two-Channel Speed Sensor Suits Motor Applications

Lenord and Bauer has launched a space-saving, two-channel speed sensor with pulse amplifier, which is suitable for use in harsh environments and on applications where space is limited. In particular, the GEL 2477, which is available in the UK from Motor Technology, is suited to motor, gearbox and roller applications. It has been designed with a robust stainless-steel housing and operates with any ferromagnetic measuring wheel. It provides high-resolution and non-contact speed sensing of rotational motion.

The sensor features an integrated interpolation module that is capable of increasing the resolution by two, four or eight times. The contact-free, magnetic sensing principle prevents oil and dirt from having a detrimental effect on the sensor, and it is suitable for use in environments with large fluctuations in temperature.

Integrating with Lenord and Bauer's existing range of speed sensors, the GEL 2477 provides a further alternative to conventional encoder technologies and reduces installation space and integration costs. Pre-confectioned cables and simple flange mounting further simplify installation. The sensor is IP68 rated, wear and maintenance free, and suitable for use in environments with a temperature range of -40 to 120C.
